Valve Spring Lifters and Compressors

Remove and replace valve springs in GM 8-cylinder engines. Heavy-duty tool replaces weak or broken valve springs and guide seals with cylinder head on the engine. Compressor is used by removing rocker and fastening tool to stud with nut. Pull on the handle to compress spring. Use with 901 or 2992 Air Hold Fittings to keep valve closed. Length: 12-1/2". Caution: Vehicle must be placed in park/neutral before applying air pressure, otherwise vehicle may move. Keep hands clear of fan, belts and pulleys since slight crankshaft rotation will occur.

Use to compress valve springs on Briggs and Stratton, Clinton, Kohler and other small engines. Remove valve cover and insert jaws around spring. Turn hand wheel to compress spring. Rear-mounted hand wheel makes operation easy.

Compress valve springs on overhead valve and L-head engines on cars, trucks and tractors. Tool has a 9-3/4" throat depth, and jaw openings 2-3/4 to 7-3/4" fit larger engine sizes. Jaws and plunger bar are easily adjusted. Plunger bar seats on both flat- and cup-shaped valve heads. Offset and Straight Jaws are included. Use these heat-treated jaws with 380 and 383 Valve Spring Compressors.

Compress valves on small overhead valve or L-head engines. Tool has a throat depth of 6-1/4" and jaw openings 3 to 5-3/8". It's designed for lightweight valve springs. Compressor works on L-heads with manifolds removed and many industrial engines.

Compressor easily removes valve springs on most cars and light trucks. Tool can be used with the cylinder head on or off the engine. Features a removable handle allowing use with a 5/8" socket or wrench in confined areas and an extra-long leg for more applications. For best results, use with 901 or 2992 Air Hold Fittings to pressurize the cylinder and keep the valves in place during removal of the spring and keepers. Replacement part: 3271-75 Long Leg.
